My Flute Story

One of my hobbies is to play the flute. I have been playing since 2000.

One day, I was walking in front of a musical instrument shop in Kanda where there are many such shops. I bought a flute. At the point in time, I could not play it at all. A few weeks later, I talked about the flute to my friend at the Office at lunchtime. His daughter can play flute he said. His daughter told him that a famous flute shop is located in Shinjuku, called Muramatsu.

I visited the shop following weekend. I explained to the shopkeeper my story. He asked me where I live and I answered. Then he recommended me a small music school in Ikebukuro.

I went to this school the following week. I encountered Mr. Youichi Shimosato who is the flute teacher there. He said he would bring a good text for me the following week. This textbook is called ALTES Vol.1. This is a very typical famous textbook for flute beginners who will try to enroll in Music University to become a professional player. I have taken lessons from Mr.Shimosato for 2 years.

Due to personnel reshuffles, my office changed and then I temporary stopped taking lessons. I continue to practice the flute by myself. It is better to practice every day, but I am lazy.

I found out a new flute teacher on the web. Her resume and the lesson style were introduced there. She sent me an email saying let’s start and enjoy the flute. The lesson will begin on Monday 23 February.
